Prospective Student Information

Thanks for your interest in the Radiological Sciences Program at Penn State New Kensington.  The process for applying to our program is described below.  If you have any questions about the application process, please feel free to contact the program director Debra Majetic at 724-334-6738. 

 

Here are the steps if you are interested in applying:

 

  1.   Fill out the Undergraduate Application to Penn State
  2.   Indicate Radiological Sciences as Choice of Major
  3.   Select New Kensington as first choice campus and ending campus
  4.   Upon receiving acceptance letter from Penn State, contact Debra Majetic (724-334-6738) to complete the following additional admission requirements:
                a.  Shadowing at either West Penn Hospital, Allegheny General Hospital or Butler Memorial Hospital
                      (Please follow the instructions on the FAQ Sheet to schedule shadowing)
                b.  Schedule NSO (New Student Orientation)       
                c.  Complete Penn State placement testing if applicable. Refer to FAQ Sheet for ALEKS testing.
                d.  Purchase package for student records management through Certified Background.    
                     Follow instructions to complete background checks and drug testing.
                     Please note:  Routine drug testing- 10 panel plus Ecstasy (urine) no sooner than 2 weeks prior  
                     to starting clinical rotations will be required
                e.  Complete Radiological Sciences physical form(pdf) and PSU online health history form
                f.   Annual influenza vaccinations must be completed in the Fall semester of each year before
                     Nov 1.  Documentation will be uploaded to Certified Background.
                g.  Purchase liability insurance through HPSO (to avoid unnecessary expense indicate Sept 1 as
                     policy effective date)  
                h.  Complete the "Test Your Knowledge Worksheet" and bring completed form to Radiological
                     Sciences New Student Orientation
