Prospective Student Information

Thanks for your interest in the Radiological Sciences Program at Penn State New Kensington.  The process for applying to our program is described below.  If you have any questions about the application process, please feel free to contact the program director Debra Majetic at 724-334-6738. 

 

Here are the steps if you are interested in applying:

  1.   Fill out the Undergraduate Application to Penn State
  2.   Indicate Radiological Sciences as Choice of Major
  3.   Select New Kensington as first choice campus and ending campus
  4.   Upon receiving acceptance letter from Penn State, contact Debra Majetic (724-334-6738) to complete the following additional admission requirements:
                a.  Shadowing at one of the clinical affiliates (must provide current immunization and 2 Step TB test)
                b.  2 step TB testing (must be completed within 6 months of scheduled shadowing)
                c.  Schedule Radiological Sciences FTCAP (First Year Testing, Counseling and Advising
                     Program)            
                d.  Complete Penn State placement testing if applicable 
                e.  Complete Radiological Sciences physical form(pdf) and PSU online health history form
                f.   Complete the following three background checks:
                         Act 33/34 Clearance (Child Abuse Clearance)
                         PA State Police history check (Criminal History Check Form)
                         Act 73 (FBI clearance check) (scroll to bottom of webpage)
                g.  Purchase liability insurance through HPSO (to avoid unnecessary expense indicate Sept 1 as
                     policy effective date)            
                h.  Routine drug testing 10 panel plus Ecstasy (urine), no sooner than 2 weeks prior to starting clinical
                     rotations
