The Penn State New Kensington men’s soccer team continues its march toward its first regular season conference title at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, when Penn State Hazelton visits for a PSUAC match at Valley High School.

The two undefeated teams will be jockeying for the top seed for the Penn State University Athletic Conference playoffs that begin Oct. 22. The New Kensington Lions sport a 6-0 record, a half-game ahead of Penn College, 5-0. Hazelton is 4-0, a game behind. Under the direction of first-year head coach Pat Cavanaugh, the team is ranked third in the nation in the latest United States Collegiate Athletic Association poll.

New Kensington is coming off a 2-0 home win Sept. 29 against Penn State Brandywine. Junior defender Adam Bombalski and freshman midfielder Tyler Lloyd scored their first goals of the season to provide the margin of victory. Freshman goalie Jimmy Cook made 10 saves to record his third shutout of the year. Junior forward Ashutosh Pandey leads the team with seven goals.

The volleyball team is on the road for a pair of PSUAC matches at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, at Penn State Fayette and 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Penn State DuBois. The New Kensington Lady Lions are 2-4 in the conference and 3-10 overall.

Individual and team honors are at stake for the Penn State New Kensington golf team when the postseason begins with the United States Collegiate Athletic Association and Penn State University Athletic Conference championships at 9 a.m. on Oct.8 and 9, at the Penn State Blue Course on the University Park campus.
