THREE NEW KENSINGTON PLAYERS
EARN POSTSEASON HONORS
Max Pascal - first team
Justin Rectenwald - second team
Adam Bombalski - second team

In its first year of intercollegiate soccer competition, Penn State New Kensington placed three players on the all-conference teams of the Penn State University Athletic Conference. Max Pascal earned first team honors and Justin Rectenwald, and Adam Bombalski received second team recognition.

"Max was our captain and he demonstrated his maturity on the field throughout the season," said coach Jack Adams, who guided the Lions to the PSUAC final. "Justin is a versatile player with a good work ethic. Adam is an excellent defender who is also an offensive threat on set plays."

Paschal (Plum H.S.), a senior midfielder, led the team in goals and assists with eight and five, respectively. His 21 points were fourth-best in the conference. Rectenwald (Derry), a freshman forward, and co-captain of the team, was second in scoring with 13 points on four goals and five assists. Bombalski (Freeport), a 6-0 a freshmen defender, was a formidable presence in front of the goal. His speed and agility helped goalkeeper Corey Casper post five shutouts

The three players joined Adams on the list of postseason honorees. Adams garnered the PSUAC "Coach of the Year,' award.

The men's soccer team's improbable march to the PSUAC title game in its inaugural season ended with a 2-0 loss in the championship game against top-ranked Penn College in Williamsport, Pa. Adams' squad finished 7-4 in the PSUAC and 8-9 overall. With only one upperclassman, the roster was anchored by 16 freshmen. Despite its inexperience, Adams' molded the team into a cohesive unit that was efficient on offense and stingy on defense. The Lion's are poised to contend for the title next year and earn a coveted slot in the nationals.
