Access Account

Your Access Account is your University-wide computer account.  Activating your Access Account allows you to:

  • Log on to classroom and laboratory computers at Penn State New Kensington
  • Access your Penn State E-mail account (Your e-mail address is userid@psu.edu. More about E-mail.)
  • Access your Penn State Access Account Storage Space (PASS)
  • Access Angel, Penn State's course management system.
  • Access eLion to register for courses, manage your financial aid, and more.

To Activate Your Account

Access Account activation must be done in person at the Computer Center, and a photo ID must be presented at the time of activation.  If you have any questions about activating your account, please call the Computer Center Helpdesk at 724-334-6081.

Your Access Account Password

Your password must be changed at least once a year, and more often is recommended.  Change your password at http://www.work.psu.edu/password

Sponsored Access Account

Sponsored Access Accounts are accounts sponsored by a department to any designated individual. A Full or Slim version is available for users receiving the access to services.

Full Access Accounts grant:

  • User ID
  • E-mail Services
  • 500 MB of electronic storage space (PASS)
  • Printing privileges
  • Personal web space
  • Listing in Penn State Directory Services

Slim Access Accounts provide:

  • User ID
  • Listing in Penn State Directory Services

The account may be active for up to one year, at which point they may be renewed. There is no limit to the amount of times an account can be renewed. 

 

Create a Sponsored Access Account

  1. Departments requesting a Sponsored Access Account must work with the Business Office to obtain users PSU ID Number and complete the background check process.
  2. Once the background check process is complete, the requesting department will need to submit a completed Access Account form (.pdf) to the Penn State New Kensington Help Desk. Please physically bring the completed from to the Help Desk. A Help Desk consultant will log the request and forward the Access Account form to the NK Charge Account supervisor for processing.
  3. Once the request is logged, NKITS will verify the background check has been completed. Upon confirmation, the Access Account form will be sent to the University Park Accounts Office for processing.
  4. Once NKITS receives confirmation from University Park, the account is ready to use. NKITS will update the ticket to let the requesting department know the Access Account is ready.

 

Delete a Sponsored Access Account

  1. When a department with a existing Sponsored Access Account user is done, the department must submit a Help Desk ticket to have the Sponsored Access Account removed.
